Table Vise
Most anybody who has a worktable usually has some sort of table vise on it or they wish they did. The table vise is a very handy tool for holding things in place while you do other things to it like sand, buff or grind. I’ve used my table vise to bend metal strips for a project I was working on. It worked great!
When looking to buy a new vise or replace an existing one, you should first consider what you plan on using it for. Surprisingly, there are two different types of table vises for different applications. There are woodworking vises and engineering vises. For the most part, engineering vise are made from metal and woodworking vise are made from wood although they can be made from metal but the jaws are wood faced to prevent mucking up the wood that is being worked on.
If you’re going to be doing normal stuff around the house or shop and not a lot wood working, you should go with an engineering vise because when you need to work with wood, all you need to do is use some wood strips between the jaws and the wood and you should be good to go. This way, your vise can be used for just about anything. Or, since vises are not all that expensive, you could buy one of each that way you’re covered no matter what.

There are also a lot of variations of the two styles of vises you can get. There are now angle vises like the Panaflex, rotary vises, off angle vises, die making vises and the list goes on. You can find a specific style vise for just about anything.
This site covers the two main styles of the tabletop vise so whether you’re a do it yourselfer in your garage or a shop foreman looking to add more tools to your shop table vise arsenal, you will be able to find one on this site that will work for you and also won’t cost you an arm and a leg,
